Dysgu Sylfaen
Fframwaith yw’r Cyfnod Sylfaen ar gyfer dysgu plant o dair i saith oed yng Nghymru. Mae’r Fframwaith yn cynnwys saith Maes Dysgu ar gyfer cefnogi datblygiad a sgiliau plant:

Chwech o’r Meysydd Dysgu hyn sydd yn weithredol mewn cylchoedd meithrin. Gan mai’r Gymraeg yw cyfrwng iaith cylchoedd meithrin, nid yw’r Maes Dysgu Datblygu’r Gymraeg yn berthnasol iddynt; fe’i bwriedir ar gyfer lleoliadau prif gyfrwng Saesneg yn unig
Prif bwyslais y Cyfnod Sylfaen yw rhoi cyfleoedd i blant ddysgu trwy chwarae a phrofiadau uniongyrchol. Rhoddir pwyslais ar sicrhau cydbwysedd rhwng dysgu sydd yn deillio o ddiddordebau naturiol y plant, a dysgu sydd wedi ei arwain dan gyfarwyddyd yr oedolion yn y ddarpariaeth.
Rhan bwysig o gyfrifoldebau’r ymarferwyr yw arsylwi a gwrando ar blant er mwyn gallu cynllunio’n effeithiol ar gyfer eu dysgu a’u datblygiad. Mae’r wybodaeth a geir trwy arsylwi yn fanwl yn galluogi’r ymarferwyr i benderfynu ar yr hyn sydd ei angen er mwyn ymestyn datblygiad, iaith a sgiliau pob plentyn unigol, ac adnabod unrhyw feysydd i’w datblygu yn y dyfodol.
Rhoddir blaenoriaeth yn y Cyfnod Sylfaen ar greu amgylchedd dysgu cyffrous, gydag adnoddau pwrpasol sy’n ysgogi plant i ddysgu trwy chwarae o fewn nifer o ardaloedd neu gorneli dysgu penodol.
Defnyddir y lleoliad tu mewn a’r ardal awyr agored fel un amgylchedd chwarae a dysgu ar gyfer hyrwyddo datblygiad bob plentyn. Mae’r ardal awyr agored yn rhoi cyfle i blant gael profiadau uniongyrchol o fyd natur, datrys heriau, dysgu geirfa newydd, meithrin agweddau cadwraeth a llawer o brofiadau eraill.
Cyflwynir Tasgau Ffocws i’r plant er mwyn cyflwyno sgiliau a chysyniadau newydd. Bydd yr ymarferwyr yn dangos gam wrth gam sut i ddefnyddio offer, gwneud tasg benodol neu fodelu iaith i’r plant. Rhoddir cyfle i’r plant, yn eu tro, ymarfer a datblygu’n ddysgwyr hyderus ac annibynnol.
Mae nifer fawr o gylchoedd meithrin erbyn hyn yn derbyn cyllid, cefnogaeth a hyfforddiant gan Awdurdodau Addysg i fod yn ddarparwyr Cyfnod Sylfaen ar gyfer plant 3 oed.
